Hailing all the way from Scotland, the three-piece alternative-pop band, known as CHVRCHEShit Seattle last Friday night for their “Screen Violence World Tour,” and fans waited all day to catch the closest glimpse of the band as possible. Upon arriving at the venue, the GA floor was packed and upper balcony seats were filled.

Right on cue, support act, Cafuné strut onto the stage. For those unfamiliar with Cafuné, the synth-pop duo is recognized for their song, “Tek It,” which went viral on TikTok earlier this year. I, for one, was extremely excited to see Cafuné live, as I’ve kept up with their music for a while now. Lead guitarist, Noah Yoo- constantly revived energy and led the instrumentals. Overall, Cafuné did a great job as a support act and had the crowd ready for CHVRCHES.

In a complete juxtaposition to the preceding act, CHVRCHES came out swinging with energy. Lead singer, Lauren Mayberry, skipped around the stage the well-lit stage in an all-black outfit and glitter tears painted on. The crowd erupted and the venue began to shake.

Mayberry’s voice remained clear, as she belted out the lyrics to “He Said She Said,” despite practically running from one side of the stage to another. There were few moments where the band stayed still, ensuring to use the space they were given on the large stage.

The set was supplemented with two different outfit changes, showing how CHVRCHES goes over the top to put on a remarkable show. The other band members, Martyn Doherty and Ian Cook, showcased broad musical talent through their ability to play all different kinds of instruments that complimented Mayberry’s confident singing.

Attending a CHVRCHES show should be on everyone’s concert bucket list. The band was definitely on mine, but after actually going to the show, I only have plans to attend more in the near future.
